Zelooperz: So Excited for the Chaos

 Zelooperz

Walter Williams, known by his stage name Zelooperz, is a rapper with a wild, cartoonish personality on the mic. Everything about his delivery, his vocals, lyrics, and beat selection, feels almost absurd, teetering on the edge of being too much. For me, Zelooperz is the perfect blend of chaotic energy and raw talent, pushing boundaries without losing his sharpness.

I first came across Zelooperz while watching snippets of a Zack Fox concert, where he opened with "Tryna Figure Out Where My Phone At?". His performance was zany yet hard-hitting, with crazy verses that bounced off an even crazier beat. I was immediately drawn to his unfiltered approach, where every line felt unpredictable, yet everything clicked in a way only he could pull off.

After hearing that snippet, I dove into his catalog, starting with Van Goghs Left Ear (2021) and Valley of Life (2020). Tracks like "Woozy""Satellite", and "Battery" stood out to me, showcasing his ability to ride unconventional beats with an effortless flow. His music felt like controlled chaos, where even the most off-the-wall moments were intentional. While not every track landed for me, his fearlessness in experimenting with sounds made each listen exciting.

In early 2023, Zelooperz dropped Microphone Fiend, and while the album didn’t quite reach the same peaks as my favorite project (Van Goghs Left Ear), it was undeniably more consistent. I found myself enjoying more tracks overall, but there were definitely fewer jaw-dropping moments that truly blew me away. My favorite tracks from the album include "Eway""So Excited", and "Climate Change", each showcasing his signature offbeat energy and sharp delivery. While Microphone Fiend didn’t redefine his sound, it proved that Zelooperz could maintain his unique style while refining his approach, delivering a solid project that kept me coming back. His features and singles since then have been favorites of mine, especially in 2023. These include Dilip's "Cola Coca" and Tia Corine's "Olive".

At this point, Zelooperz has solidified himself as one of the most distinctive voices in underground rap. His willingness to take risks, paired with his signature off-the-wall delivery, makes his music a break from the norm. Even if his style isn’t for everyone, there’s no denying his creativity and fearlessness. As long as he keeps pushing boundaries, I’ll keep coming back to see where he takes things next.
