Zack Fox started as a comedian and soon became a rapper, actor, DJ, and is now venturing into the animated world, creating a comedy anime with Donald Glover. His pivot into rapping started as a joke on The Cave, which was a YouTube series by Kenny Beats where someone goes into the studio and freestyles on one of Kenny's beats. Fox's freestyle blew up on the Internet because of his ridiculous one-liners, and it set him down a path to rap as a hobby.
My first encounter with Zack Fox was in 2021 at Day N Vegas, a music festival where I went to Kenny Beats’ DJ set. Fox made a guest appearance, performing a few tracks that grabbed my attention. I decided to get into his music and discovered his 2021 debut album, shut the **** up talking to me. The project showcased his sharp wit and comedic delivery, with funny lyrics like, “I was so broke eating oxygen sandwiches,” and "Crib got all type of amenities, took off the top like a Kennedy". Standout tracks for me included "fafo," "mind your business," and "bane."
Since then, Fox has only dropped a handful of singles, with no signs of another major release on the horizon. Lately he’s been focusing on DJing and developing his animated series. While his music may be on pause, his ability to thrive in multiple creative lanes showcases that Zack Fox is far from running out of quests to conquer. I've heard snippets of unreleased music from him, and even if it isn't hinting towards a bigger project in the future, I am 100% ready for what Fox has in store.
